/ Gate of Freedom »
In 2022, during my art residency at Zet Gallery in Braga, I was given the unique opportunity to create a large-scale mural on the metal gates leading to the workshops at DST Braga. This project became an important milestone in my creative journey, continuing my exploration of the interaction between color, form, and space.
The mural was inspired by the work of Sonia Delaunay, a renowned artist who, like me, has Ukrainian roots. Her work within the Orphism movement became a source of inspiration for me — the combination of color, geometry, and form, creating dynamic harmony, was perfect for the concept of "Gate of Freedom."
A quote by Clarice Lispector at the top of the mural : "Freedom is little. What I desire has no name yet." This expression perfectly captures the essence of my creative search. For me, freedom has no final definition, just like art itself — it is always in search, in motion, striving for something greater. Freedom, like creativity, cannot be confined to words; it is always in the process of becoming and opens new horizons before us.
The metal gates became not only my canvas but also a metaphor — a barrier that opens a path. This project marked the beginning of working with new materials such as metal and epoxy resin, which later influenced the creation of art objects and art books. This work became a turning point in my search for new approaches, which led to the creation of new graphic series such as "Le charme discret du graphite", "Geometria della Colore", and "Geometry of Gesture".
In the graphic series "Le charme discret du graphite", I use minimalist and expressive forms, exploring the magic and density of graphite as a material. In "Geometria della Colore", colors become a key element that imbues the forms with deep meaning, while in "Geometry of Gesture", the focus is on gesture as an act of self-discovery and self-reflection, where the intention is not only important, but also the presence in the world through the body, perception, and understanding.
I am proud to have created this mural and added it to my collection of works, and I am grateful for the opportunity to explore the important theme of freedom, which became the foundation for many future projects.
A special thank you for the support and help from the Zet Gallery team, without whom the creation of this project would not have been possible.
